Learning and teaching have always played an integral part in my life. As a professional ballet dancer for nine years I was focused on learning. Then, for over twenty years as a ballet teacher of all ages and levels, my concern was passing on my knowledge with integrity and patience.
Graduating from Fairfield University summa cum laude with a Communication degree furthered my understanding of commitment and perseverance. During that time, I served as a full-time, special-education one-to-one paraprofessional in the Westport, Connecticut school system. This experience further developed my skills and knowledge of educating and helped me understand how best to assist a student in reaching his or her highest potential. I currently work in special education in a Milford public school.
It seemed a natural progression to combine my love of learning, teaching, movement, and children, with intensive training by the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education (IMSE) in the Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching reading. In the fall of 2018 I began as a weekly volunteer tutor, using those learned skills, at the Hall Neighborhood House in Bridgeport, CT, and as a local one-on-one private reading tutor.
